Nepal Electricity Authority have announced that this year's loadshedding will not cross the limit of 14 hours a day. Currently Nepalese are facing 81 hours of weekly loadshedding. Nepal Electricity Authority have also requested all to be very economical in the use of electricity. NEA have requested to turn off the street lights during day time, turn off lights, TVs, AC and other electrical appliances when not in use.
Increasing water level of river and effective anti-theft campaign of electricity have played major role to limit the power cuts. Apart from that India has also already signed the contract to sell 75 MW of electricity by the month of Chaitra.
Total daily demand of electricity in Nepal is 1 crore 40 lakhs units in which only 95 lakhs units are available with NEA.
